Hi Everyone--

This morning 2/22 I led my monthly trip around the Vancouver Lake
lowlands for the Audubon Society of Portland. There was a HARLAN'S
RED-TAILED HAWK soaring over the caretakers' residence at the north end
of Lower River Road in Ridgefield NWR. A male EURASIAN WIGEON was in the
first slough on the right side of Old Lower River Road at its south end.
A PILEATED WOODPECKER was in the main parking lot of Vancouver Lake Park
in the midst of 200 bicyclists gathered for a racing event. The
zonotrichia flock on Old Lower River Road is much smaller now than it
was a month ago, and seems to contain only White-crowned and
Golden-crowned Sparrows (no Harris's or White-throated today). Hardly
any ducks at all on Post Office Lake.
