Hi Tweets, I made it back out to the Brady Loop area this afternoon with the
goal of relocating the Pink-footed Goose. I checked the area just southwest
of the intersection of Brady Loop Rd. and Willis St. where I had the goose
on Sunday afternoon. It took me awhile to sort through the large amount of
Canada Geese, but I finally did find the Pink-footed Goose again. The
Greater White-fronted Goose is still present too. It seems these two geese
don't get too far away from each other. The Greater White-fronted Goose was
a lot more active walking around feeding than the Pink-footed. I watched
the geese for about one hour between 2:45pm and 3:45pm.

While watching them at one point, all the geese went into alarm mode and
several groups took off flying. So I started scanning for an incoming
raptor and it didn't take long to spot a large eagle coming in from the
southwest. To my delight, I spotted the golden nape first and then I knew
it was the Golden Eagle that has been in the area of late. It dove down
towards some ducks and tried to take one with no success. The eagle landed
in the field for a moment then took off flying back to the southwest towards
the forested cliffs above the Chehalis river. While it flew away, there
were several moments were it soared for a short time where you could
definitely see the slight dihedral pattern of its wings while it was
soaring.

Around the rest of the Brady Loop, I spotted a few more raptors including
one Red-tailed Hawk, two adult Bald Eagles, and one Rough-legged Hawk.

Good birding,
