Subject: "Pop" on Thursday

On Thursday, February 26, 2004, there will possibly be a loud "pop" in Red
Square near Gerberding Hall, mid-morning or early afternoon. Bob Reineke,
research scientist, Forest Resources, will be setting a net to capture a
couple of the "Gerberding Crows." When the net is released, it makes a
loud noise. The crows will have their legs banded and then be released.
This is part of a long term study of urban crow and songbird populations
in the Seattle area. More information about the research and how it
relates to West Nile virus can be found at
