ON 2/26 when I drove past the Steigerwald Lake Refuge next to
Washougal, Clark County, WA, there was one ROSS' GOOSE in with a flock of
about five hundred 'cackling" Canada Geese. According to my wife she has
seen one white goose in the flock down there for the last week or longer,
presumably the same bird. Ross' Geese have become almost annual in the
early spring at this refuge. Viewing is from the shoulder of Highway 14
only, the refuge is closed to the public.
