There's nothing like a good snow storm that includes a gusting, arctic wind
to stack up the birds around the millet feeder in my back yard. The numbers
of HOUSE FINCHES and WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS are way up, the DARK-EYED JUNCO
flock has a "SLATE-COLORED" bird in it, the RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS and the
BREWER'S BLACKBIRDS are jostling for position at the feed trough and four
YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS have joined them. My only regret is that they'll
soon make it necessary for me go out to refill the feeder and it's not
people-friendly weather out there today.
