Hello All,
Well today we birded our own yard for a change, as there was heavy/dense falling snow in the A.M. and two hours of sun in early P.M. then the blizzard hit. 25+ MPH winds and horizontal snow. So we sat in the hot tub and watched the birds come into the feeders. Species observed with 8 inches of fresh snow and more pilling up.
1. Sharp-shinned Hawk.......1 ad. female
2. California Quail................6 birds
3. Black-capped Chickadee..4 birds
4. Dark-eyed Junco..............45+ birds, 2 slate colored
5. House Finch.....................6 birds
6. English Weaver-finch.........3 birds
7. Merlin...............................1 ad.
8. N. Flicker..........................1 ad.
9. Am. Goldfinch....................7 birds
10. Cedar Waxwing................30 birds
11. Pine Siskin.......................1 bird
12. Red-winged Blackbird........2 birds
13. Rock Pigeon.....................2 birds
14. Bewicks Wren...................1 bird
Also had time to read the latest issue of WASHINGTON BIRDER. Another great job by those Knittles!
