Subject: New Year's Day birding in Skagit County

MaryFrances Mathis and I found 73 species of birds in northern Snohomish and Skagit County today, including 11 species of raptors. Highlights include a BARRED OWL and WHITE-THROATED SPARROW at the Skagit Game Range, a flock of about 100 WESTERN MEADOWLARKS at the end of Rawlins Road, a GYRFALCON at the West 90, and over 75 VARIED THRUSHES throughout the day.
