Greetings all,

Its almost that time again for the winter pelagic season to begin. Westport
Seabirds 1st trip of the year will take place Saturday January 31st.

There is still space available for one of our favorite times to head out to
Grays Canyon.

Winter pelagics can be the most exciting trips of the whole year with many
possible rarities can show up.

Aside from the last two January dates being postponed due to weather, the
last two January trips have been 3 species albatross days with the usual
Black-footed Albatross being accompanied by 6 Laysan and a very rare in the
Northern Hemisphere, SHY ALBATROSS in 2000. In 2001, we had 7 Laysan
Albatross put in an appearance along with the very rare SHORT-TAILED
ALBATROSS.

Other potential goodies that could show up include Parakeet Auklet,
Thick-billed Murre, Red-legged Kittiwake, or something even more unexpected.

The pelagic leaves at 7:00AM January 31st from Float 8 in Westport.
Trip cost is 90 dollars
