Hello, Tweeters!

I?m the editor of ?Earthcare Northwest,? Seattle
Audubon?s newsletter, and I?m putting together a simple
calendar, meant partially but not totally for backyard
birders, including those new to birding. I?m picturing
the sort of thing that you see in gardening columns?
March: Plant bush and pole peas. Hunt down those slugs.
? November: Time to plant that garlic. Divide dahlias
now. Etc.

I don?t expect a full calendar from anyone, but I would
love to know about a few months that have special
meaning for you in your birding year. For me, June
means that the first batch of chickadees fledges.
February is when the Anna?s Hummingbirds are courting
and nesting in our yard. Farther afield, February is
also a great time to spot raptors on the Skagit and
Samish, after the hunters are gone. This could be a
neat guide for folks just starting on this amazing
hobby, or for those expanding their horizons.

It is fine to answer me privately. Thanks in advance
for any suggestions.

Regards?Ellen Blackstone
