Good Snowy Morning from Vancouver WA,
Kari and I had breakfast with the usual gang of suspects at our feeders,
song sparrows, house finches, house sparrows, starlings, mourning doves
(half of the usual flock of 30 or so), pine siskins, gold finches, juncos,
towhees, scrub jay and an uniderntified raptor lurking in the fir trees
across the field. We are feeding more birds than usual, about 30%. None of
our usual gang has disappeared. The four flickers are absent today but
expected, as are the stellar jays, the resident sharp shin is here
somewhere, I'm sure, just waiting. We have seen a varied thrush four times
this past week. We have had robins which is unusual for us this time of
year.
Currently we have 7 inches of snow on the ground, 3 1/2 new and it is coming
down hard. The current temp is 17.
