Tweets - the weather was not the best today, with about an inch of slush on
the ground and rain falling most of the morning. Thankfully, there was
little wind, and the absolute temperature was not that low. Still, it was
cold and gray all morning, and generally not terribly pleasant to be out it.
But that didn't stop us, for there were (as always) good birds to see:

Gr. White-Fronted Goose 1 with about 400 CAGO on grass fields
American Wigeon Perhaps 40, also with the Canadas
Ring-necked Duck At least 23 in one group on the slough
Common Goldeneye A beautiful drake landed near the windmill
Hooded Merganser Many, perhaps 10+
Common Merganser 2 nice drakes at the lake
Bald Eagle 2 adults
Sharp-shinned Hawk 1+ juvenile
Cooper's Hawk 1 adult plus ~2 juveniles. Many sightings.
Wilson's Snipe 3 below weir in mowed zone
Belted Kingfisher 1st for a long while, at the lake
Steller's Jay Notably many
AMERICAN PIPIT 2 below weir in mowed zone, near snipe

There was also a RIVER OTTER at the lake, and many Raccoon tracks in the
snow. (Rabbit tracks too).

Last Saturday, I helped count at Marymoor for the ELWAS CBC. Highlights
then included:

Killdeer At least 58, notably high count
Dunlin 1 with Killdeer
Wilson's Snipe 1 at East Meadow, to make a 3 shorebird day

For today, we had 52 species. For the week, 58. (Today was missing such
"easy" birds as Northern Flicker, Bushtit, Bewick's Wren, and Pine Siskin,
all of which were seen Saturday) For the year - gee, that's 58 too :)
