Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday January 8. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On January 4 a possible HENSLOW?S SPARROW was reported from the Fisher Butte
Unit of Fern Ridge Reservoir. On December 28 an injured RED-LEGGED KITTIWAKE
was found near Jewell, in the Coast Range, and was taken to the Astoria
Rehab center.

A flock of four REDPOLLS were along the north side of Alsea Bay January 4.

On December 31 a female MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD was on the west side of the Heron
Lakes Golf Course in North Portland. A ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was at nearby Smith
Lake January 3. Forty CANVASBACKS were on Smith Lake January 5. The Vanport
Wetlands HARRIS?S SPARROW continues to be seen. The MACGILLIVRAY?S WARBLER
wintering at Jackson Bottoms in Hillsboro was last reported January 3. A
female BARROW?S GOLDENEYE was at the Willamina Sewage Ponds January 1.

A PRAIRIE FALCON was west of Amity December 30. The Baskett Slough NWR
GYRFALCON continues to be seen along Coville Road. A LAPLAND LONGSPUR was
seen December 30 among a flock of HORNED LARKS along Davis Road, north of
Halsey. A BULLOCK?S ORIOLE has been reported along Oak Hill Road in West
Eugene. Both TREE and BARN SWALLOWS were recorded on the January 4 Eugene
Count. On December 30 a flock of 45 SANDHILL CRANES were seen southeast of
Eugene.

A EURASIAN TEAL is being seen on the Deschutes River in Bend. A flock of 40
REDPOLLS were seen December 30 on Tumalo Mountain near Bachelor Butte,
south of Bend. A BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER was also in the area. Five
WILLIAMSON??S SAPSUCKERS and three BLACK PHOEBES were found on the January 3
Klamath Fall Count. A MOURNING DOVE was near Hines January 3. Several
MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS are also in the area.
