Could the Reardon Ponds information (A group is trying to save Reardon Ponds near Spokane) be posted again to all of us on tweeter land? Denny Grandstand asked for it yesterday privately but I seem to have lost it also and maybe others are interested in seeing it again.


PS. The comments about Saudi Arabia sure hit home. In Northwest Mexico our boat to a bird island was ordered to halt and then boarded by 4 very young military or police guys all carrying assault rifles. They turned out to be nice, but it sure made me appreciate our rights to be free from arbitrary search and seizure and wary of any chipping-away of those rights.

PPS. Also, I was delighted to see Kelly Cassidy?s post against feeding, although I personally just gave in to the urge to feed again and am genuinely torn on the issue, for many reasons. But a perhaps significant possible negative outcome of feeding is loss of swallow populations. Feeding probably elevates House Sparrow populations dramatically in some areas, and they in turn evict Swallow family species from nesting situations, as they have Cliff Swallows in several sites around here. House Sparrows also are a serious nest competitor to local Purple Martins, from what I hear.

Still, it?s nice to see Spotted Towhees, Golden Crowned Sparrows, Song Sparrows and Chickadees back in the yard along with the hordes of guilt-inducing House Sparrows.
