Cliff,

I saw an accipiter perched on the east side of "Shilshole Blvd." (I don't
know the name of the arterial that runs n-s past the marina) opposite Ray's
Boat House on the Christmas Bird Count (December 27) that I thought at first
was a juvenile Gos, but on review decided it was a very large female
Cooper's. The breast streaking was too fine, the tail banding actually quite
typical of Cooper's, and the supercilium indistinct, though present. It
might be your bird.

Gene Hunn.

(Seattle) was a juv NORTHERN GOSHAWK? Firstly, it was huge, it looked to be
two feet from head to tail, the breast was well streaked, brownish, the tail
was long with a white scalloped edge and with several horizontal bands. The
white scalloped edge was quite striking and different than the usual
Accipter, the head looked very small in relation to the body, which was
huge.
