Tweeters,
Definite change along the shoreline from the snow/ice the past few days to the almost balmy (it's all relative) 45+ degrees today. The usual suspects were seen during this scan, with the only difference being a distant RED-TAILED HAWK surveying the scene from its perch high atop a power tower along SR 599 to the south of Turning Basin #3. (Aside: The PEREGRINE FALCON was tearing apart prey at the top of the east-bank power tower (across from Hamm Creek) at 9:52am. I didn't have time to grab the scope to find out what was on the menu this morning.)

Birds seen during this scan included the following:
Gadwall (3)
Mallard (2)
Bufflehead
Common Merganser
Double-crested Cormorant (6)
Red-tailed Hawk
Mew Gull (2)
Glaucous-winged Gull (7)
Belted Kingfisher
American Crow
European Starling (14)
Song Sparrow (2; one singing)

May all your birds be identified,

Denis DeSilvis
