Hi Tweets:
Don't know how many of you are aware of The Falcon Research Group in
Bow, Washington but Bud Anderson has a report about Red-tailed Hawks
with elongated top beaks. He found one on the Samish Flats dead of
starvation and now three have been reported on Whidby Island, Samish
Flats and Seatac. Call up his web site at www.frg.org and see the
pictures for yourself. The old saying use to be if you can't identify
the buteo, call it a red tail. I learned to really appreciate the
Red-tail after taking Bud's hawk class and seeing one live up close.
They are beautiful birds and not that appreciated. The next one you see,
check out the beak and and confirm it is OK.
