Earlier this week I found a mature male Yellow X Red
Shafted Northern Flicker at our suet feeder. The
moustachial stripe was bright red, light tan clored
top of head and completely grey cheek. The bird had
light red crescent on the nape. Under wing and under
tail were fully red shafted.

This morning I had a full adult male Yellow Shafted
Flicker at the same suet feeder, with the male hybrid
waiting on a limb nearby and coming in to feed after
the yellow shafted male left. I had a male yellow
shafted bird here in early March of 2003, only
actually sighted these two times.
