This morning I birded Skagit Game Range. Didn't see any White-throated
Sparrows or owls, but I did see an AMERICAN TREE SPARROW. The bird was
alone in the brambles by the dike trail just beyond the valve and before
where the trail forks. There was also a NORTHERN FLICKER with black
moustache, red nape crescent, but red wing linings. I also saw a very dark
MERLIN.

In Snohomish County there was a white stripe WHITE-THROATED SPARROW at the
corner of Norman and Miller Roads. Recently there was a tan stipe in the
same place. An AMERICAN KESTREL perched on a wire at 300th and 68th, also
in Snohomish County.

Recent reports by Cameron Cox and Charlie Wright from Coulon Park and the
Cedar River outlet in Renton (King County) got my attention. At the outlet
late this afternoon I saw one GLAUCOUS GULL, 1st winter, I believe. Also
numbers of GLAUCOUS-WINGED, WESTERN, THAYER'S, HERRING, MEW and RING-BILLED
