Ann Nightingale found a bird that sounds identical on the Duncan
(Vancouver Island) CBC (Jan 3). It also looked small and she at first
thought it might be a Lewis' Woodpecker (a former breeder on the
Island, now only a vagrant) , but got closer and flicker markings began
to show. Bright sunny day with snow on the ground so light was not a
problem.
