Hi Tweets,

After finally catching up with just one of the Pink-footed Geese at "K" street in Hoquiam on Saturday around 11 am. My wife, Jessica, and I spent the balance of the afternoon hiking/birding Damon Point. The highlight was by far an immature gray-phase Gyrfalcon about halfway out the spit on the ocean side. We first noticed the bird from a good distance on low perch at the far end of the spit being harassed by a Peregrine. Both birds then flew up spit and perched on low snags within 100 yards of both us and each other. The peregrine conducted periodic and very vocal dive bombing acrobatics around the Gyr who remained relatively calm but did both drop to the ground and call a couple times. At the time, I thought this Gyr might be the same one being seen by others at Midway Beach. But, based on the Sullivan's 10 Jan. report of the Gyr at Midway Beach the same afternoon, it appears there at two of these cool birds in the general area this winter.

Good birding,
