The BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER first seen on 6 Dec by Dave Beaudette continues
to be seen at Daroga State Park, Douglas Co, WA. It was seen on 25, 27, and
30 Dec. The park is about 24 miles north of Wenatchee along US 97. Turn off
at the main entrance at about milepost 219.5. The park is closed so don't
block the gates. Walk down the main park road, past the first parking lot on
the left, to the two small cinder block buildings on the left. Look in this
area, particularly for the kinglet flock with which it associates.

A COMMON GRACKLE is in Spokane Co WA. Brian Miller apparently found the bird
near Liberty Lake. It was seen today, 12 Jan, by Gina Sheridan and Matthew
Moskwik. The bird has taken favor with the Burger King, just south of I-90
at the Liberty Lake exit. WA DeLorme 89, C-8.

In the Lewiston ID/Clarkston WA valley are some good birds. On 6 Jan, Carole
Vande Voorde reports that she and Joel Sauder found 1 male LONG-TAILED DUCK
at the Confluence, 1 EURASIAN WIGEON at Swallows Park (just south of
Clarkston along WA 129 and the Snake River), and 2 more EURASIAN WIGEONS at
Kiwanis Park (just south of the US 12 bridge, between Snake River Avenue and
the Snake River). Also a GLAUCOUS GULL on the Snake River.

A BLUE JAY is being seen again near Othello, Adams Co WA. Randy Hill reports
the bird is in the same general location as birds in fall 2002 and 2003. To
get there take WA 24 south of Othello 3+ miles, turn left on Atkinson Road
and go about a mile to Sundance. Take either end south to where it loops
back and watch/listen along the inside of the loop. WA DeLorme 53, BC-7.

Another BLUE JAY is persisting at the feeder of Dave Holick northeast of
Moscow, Latah Co ID. This bird has been around for nearly 2 months. If you
want to try for it, give Dave a call at 208.882.5556.

LAPLAND LONGSPURS were reported from a couple of WA sites. First, 2 or 3
longspurs were
mixed with Horned Larks just west of Royal Lake on and near Columbia NWR and
on the Grant and Adams county line, according to Randy Hill. To get there,
turn north on Road D SE, about 2 miles west of the Grant and Adams county
line along WA 26. Go about 2 miles, then right on Road 15.1 SE. Watch for
flocks in the next mile. WA DeLorme 53, B-5. The second batch of 4 longspurs
were seen by Mike and MerryLynn Denny mixed in among 1000s of Horned Larks
in Walla Walla Co WA. The birds were up on Eureka Flats, west of Clyde along
Sheffler Road. WA DeLorme 41, A-5.

If you have any questions about birds on the report, call me before 9 pm at
208.883.0943. If you see any of the birds mentioned in this report, be sure
to let me know.

Good birding.
