Monday, January 12, 5:04 PM - This is Gene Hunn at 206 365 2043. At
3:20 this afternoon I saw a first or second winter GREAT BLACK-BACKED
GULL at the mouth of the Cedar River in Renton in Cedar River Park from
the boardwalk. It was conspicuous standing there with three
GLAUCUS-WINGED GULLS and dwarfing them. It had a striking white head
and belly and black primaries and checkered coverts and a striking
two-toned bill which looks more like a second winter than a first
winter bird, but the eye looked darker. In any case there is a GLAUCUS
GULL there as well. Good luck. I didn't have a camera so I'm counting
on somebody else to verify it.

Monday, January 12, 10:00 PM - This is Rachel Lawson, BirdBox system
administrator. On Monday, January 12th, Ruth Johnson reports that she
saw a MANDARIN DUCK in downtown Kent at a small park between the
railroad tracks and first avenue. The duck was on the pond that could
be seen from first and Gow. Ruth's phone number is 253 945 6093.

Monday, January 12, 10:11 PM - This is Rachel Lawson, BirdBox system
administrator. On Sunday Brad Liljequist had three REDHEADS at the
Montlake Fill in Seattle. He saw the birds out on the bay from the
south tip of the fill. Brad's number is 206 784 5351.
