Was wondering how common the black-headed grosbeak was in the Kittitas and
Yakima Valleys? There was a pair at one of my favorite places on the Yakima
River last summer. In a heavy willow thicket next to the river (otherwise,
shrub-steppe country). Must of had a nest as they were there for at least
several months. I took my laptop down there and they would eventually show
up each morning. Anyway, it was a first sighting for that species for me and
was just curious how common they are in WA.
