A COMMON GRACKLE has been in Spokane Co WA. Brian Miller apparently found
the bird near Liberty Lake last Monday. It was reported through 14 Jan by
Gene Lynch and Cindy McCormack. Whether it is gone or just not being
reported I'm not sure. The bird was hanging out near the Burger King, just
south of I-90 at the Liberty Lake exit. WA DeLorme 89, C-8.
On 14 Jan, Gina Sheridan and Harold and Karen Cottet birded west of Reardon
and onto the Waterville Plateau region of WA. They found a few LAPLAND
LONGSPURS in a flock of Horned Larks west of Reardon, Lincoln Co WA. The
flock was along US 2 at milepost 198, near Hartline Road. WA DeLorme 85,
C-6. Just a couple of miles west in another flock of larks they found a
single SNOW BUNTING. A THAYER'S GULL was on the east side of Chief Joseph
Dam near Bridgeport, Douglas Co WA. WA DeLorme 84, A-3 right at the top.
Also in Bridgeport on the river was a single, female LONG-TAILED DUCK.
Two male RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS were on the Snake River between Whitman and
Asotin counties, WA according to Tom and Diane Weber. The birds were near
Silcott Island, the island that hosts Chief Timothy park about 5 miles west
of Clarkston. WA DeLorme 43, A-7..
At Hat Rock SP, east of Umatilla OR, were 2 EURASIAN WIGEONS on 18 Jan
according to Craig and Judy Corder. The park is along the Columbia about 5
miles east of town, north of US 730. OR DeLorme 85, A-8.
The BLUE JAY is persisting at the feeder of Dave Holick northeast of Moscow,
Latah Co ID. This bird has been around for nearly 2 months. If you want to
try for it, give Dave a call at 208.882.5556.
If you have any questions about birds on the report, call me before 9 pm at
208.883.0943. If you see any of the birds mentioned in this report, be sure
to let me know.
Good birding.
