Good day of birding yesterday with my wife and a friend; killer looks
at a Rough-leg on Brady Loop (first for both of them) kept us from
getting to Tokeland at high tide. Missing the Godwits on the dock was
made up for by a spectacular Merlin-working-the-Dunlin-flock show.
The Merlin was doing a very Peregrine-ish pitch up and stoop attack
on the Dunlin. Not that I've seen all that many Merlins in attack
mode, but all the others I've watched have used the low to the ground
stealth attack. Always something new to learn...

We met a couple of birders from Detroit at Tokeland, they were
complaining about how everything they could find on the web was at
least a week old. Somehow they had completely missed Tweeters.
