Hi Tweets:
My husband found a great price in the Seattle paper for Motorola FRS
radios. These are the good ones that have 22 channels, 38 codes for
each channel effectively giving you about 800 channels, and you can
disable the roger beep. They are for sale at Office Max for $39.99
per pair. Prices valid from 1-25-04 to 1-31-04. This model carries
for up to two miles, which is the kind that most birders use between
cars, and between birders out in the field. I tried to order them
online, but for me at least the connection didn't hold. And the 800
number had quite a long wait. I ended up ordering them on the phone
at a 1-877 number.
The lady said I would probably receive them tomorrow.
Here is the info:
For sale at Office Max
FRS 2-way Radios - Motorola T5620
Order # 2033-5022
Cost $39.99 per pair
Officemax.com (this didn't work well for me). 1-800-239-3242 (this
number would have required me to wait several minutes).
1-877-633-4236. I used this one and got through to them right away.
The ad says you have to have a FCC license to use the radios, but you
do not.
I have no connection to Office Max and this is not an ad for them. I
just happen to like and use the Motorola FRS radios and am still using
some that I bought about 5 years ago.
