Just about time for those youngsters to start showing up - watch for
grey/black heads on our Northwest turkey vultures.

Following are reports for June 2004 from Washington and British Columbia:

01 -- 1 over Field Spring State Park; 1 at the Skagit/Snohomish County
line; 1 over the Nile Burn area; 2 near Bowerman Basin
03 -- 4 sitting in trees along the beach at Gibsons, BC
04 -- 1-2 soaring overhead several times a day at Gibsons, BC
05 -- 8 circling south of Rock Lake, Whitman County; 2 over the Hoquiam
River bridges
06 -- 1 soaring near I-5 near Kalama; 1 north of Kalama sitting in a tree;
1 at Lyons Ferry SP; 3 at the south end of Sprague Lake; 10 riding a
thermal at the mouth of the Sammish River; 5 soaring over the beach at
Gibsons, BC
07 -- 2 in a tree near Sturgeon Slough, Pitt Meadows, B.C.; 1 at Dry Falls
Overlook; 4 over the Hoquiam River Bridges
08 -- 3 on the ground / 1 in the air on Rannie Road, Pitt Meadows, BC + 2
more behind a building - all 6 flushed by a coyote; 19 between Duncan and
Sayward, VI, BC; 1 sitting in a tree at the beach at Gibsons, BC
11 -- 6 at Gibsons, BC
12 -- 2 east of Oakville; 4 along Brady Loop Road; 5 at Pitt Meadows, BC
13 -- 5 over the Issaquah Hobart Road; (?) along the Cable Bay Trail,
Cedar, BC; 4 between Sequim and Port Angeles
14 -- 1 in Maple Ridge, BC; 12 over Grant Narrows, BC; 2 swooping and
flying low over a dairy at Washington Harbor, Sequim
15 -- 1 over the Arlington I-5 interchange; 47 circling over a field near
Circleville, Ohio
16 -- 1 in Airway Heights, Spokane; 6 in the air over Rannie Road, BC with
15 on the ground; 4 along Wenzel Slough Road
17 -- 1 in Vancouver, BC
18 -- 1 over Hampton's Farm, Maple Ridge, BC; 2 circling over Hwy 12 near
Randle
19 -- 1 east of Sequim; 5-6 circling over Bethel Ridge; 20 on the west side
of Rannie Road, Pitt Meadows, BC; several over Cameron Lakes Road, Omak; 2
west of Hoquiam
20 -- 4 over an irrigated pasture near I-5/12; 4 over Cyber Lake; groups of
2-3 for three days between Snoqualmie and North Bend; 10 at Pitt Meadows, BC
21 -- 1 near Pelton's Nursery, Maple Ridge, BC
22 -- (?) at the Capitol State Forest
23 -- 15 over the Marblemount boat launch; 3 in a tree, 1 flying in to join
them at farm on Rannie Road, Pitt Meadows, BC
25 -- 25 (+ 1 in a tree) near Three Crabs in Sequim; 5 soaring over Mount
Si, 2 more on the other side of the mountain
26 -- 8 flying over the George Adams Fish Hatchery, Mason County; 4 soaring
over Hampton's Farm, Maple Ridge, BC, then settling on fence posts to sun;
1 southwest of Cusick, Pend Oreille County; 1 above Hoquiam High School
27 -- 1 west of Spokane
28 -- 1 in Pacific County
29 -- 1 imm, 2 adults near Hoquiam STP
30 -- 9 soaring over Pend Oreille County at Westside Calispell Road/Flowery
Trail Road; 2 quietly flying over Littlerock; 1 at the Marblemount boat launch
