Hi Tweeters,

I think all but one of the Great Blue Herons have
fledged at Medina Park. The nest on the bottom was so
late I am not sure if the second nestling wasn't
resting in the nest or met an unhappy fate. While I
was there briefly this morning an adult and immature
Bald Eagle made a low fly over the park.

With the help of a fellow Tweeters I got to find one
of the Bullock's Orioles nests a few weeks ago. Two
young were outside the nest but not flying and the
parents were busy feeding them. They are long gone
now, although I did see a nice immature bird in the
vicinity. Today I found the second nest-it is side by
side to the very beautiful nest that was built last
year in the fir tree. To find it go clockwise around
the pond. Over the little wooden bridge off to the
right is dog do bags and a trash can. If you go into
the firs right next to the cans a few feet and turn
around (facing west, not recommended when the sun is
setting...) and start scanning the backsides of the
lowest furthest out branches of the fir trees you
should be able to find the pretty nest and the new one
to the right of the old one by the racket the
nestlings are now making. I imagine they will be out
of the nest and fledging fairly soon.

I also saw the Green Heron today in the second pond
over.

Directions: I405, NE 8th exit, go west, by Bellevue
Square, NE 8th turns into NE 12th. At the 5 way stop
(not light), the park is just beyond on the left.
Park in NE 12th lot, heron tree is leaning over the
pond near the parking lot.
