I subscribe to the New York Times on-line service. Today's news inlcudes a
story about a big race where 18 juvenile Tasmanian Shy albatrosses were fitted
with radio transmitters and sent off on their migration from Tasmania to South
Africa. Below are addresses for two web sites with accounts about the big
race. The first is to Ladbrokes, a betting company which put up money to
support the radio collars. The first birds are about reach South Africa so the
"race" is about over and I guess it is too late to place any bets, if anyone is of
a punting frame of mind.
