Tw'ters,

I see a lot of similarities between reading postings, and watching
television. I don't care for most of what passes for entertainment on the tube these
days, so I don't watch it. You can turn it off, you can change the channel, etc.
No one forces you to participate in something that YOU consider to be inane
and a waste of time. The same logic applies to the newspapers, talk radio,
politics, etc. You name it.

Martyn is not afraid to speak his mind, but that doesn't necessarily mean
that everything he says is to be taken as the last word. I might not agree with
everything he says and might even wince a time or two, but his right to say
what he feels is what "we the people" are all about. I would prefer, however, not
to get into name-calling...that's not my style, thank you. Cheap shots are
still a dime a dozen. Sticks and stones...yadda, yadda, yadda.

But do cut him and everyone else a little slack; i.e., delete his postings,
mix it up with him if you will, or just UNsubscribe. Our wonderful world of
birders/birdwatchers is filled with some of the most eccentric characters you'll
ever meet and you DO NOT have to like each and every one of them. R. Limbaugh
refers to most of our ilk as "environmental wackos," and to some extent, he's
not too far off. Think about it. I'm a bit wacky about the environment--aren't
most of you?

I'm off now to find a place where the 4th can turn into the 5th with a little
less noise than we've come to expect. Now, there's a non bird-related subject
for you! Earplugs, anyone?

Happy quietude to all,
