Hey Tweeters;

This morning I walked the loop at Nisqually NWR. The highlight of the walk
this morning was a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT located at the twin benches on the
northside of the refuge along the sound just east of the mouth of McAllister
Creek. The bird was heard calling from inside the dike, but was impossible
to see through the trees, but then it perched above the trail for a clear
view. The bird was seen at 8:00 AM this morning.

The refuge is alive with many young birds, especially swallows. On the
Nisqually River, near the Ring Dike trail I watched a female BELTED
KINGFISHER being "harassed" by 3 fledglings. Also near here was GREEN
HERON. Inside the dike along McAllister Creek were 3 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 1
LEAST SANDPIPER, 1 WESTERN SANDPIPER, several SPOTTED SANDPIPERS. The young
BALD EAGLE was seen inside the nest, exercising it's wings.
