This is the Vancouver Natural History Society's Rare Bird Alert for Sunday
July 4th, sponsored in part by Wild Birds Unlimited, with stores in
Vancouver and North Vancouver.

Sightings for Sunday, July 4.

The southbound shore bird migration has started in earnest with between
6,000 & 7,000 peeps being observed along Boundary Bay between 96th & 112th
on this evening's high tide. The majority were Western Sandpipers with a
hundred Least & 15 or so Semiplamated.

Reported from Reifel today were 2 PURPLE MARTINS, 1 LESSER YELLOWLEGS and a
very tame male REDHEAD.

Saturday, July 3

The HOUSE WREN at the foot of 104th is still present and singing.

The REDHEAD was reported from Reifel.

Friday, July 2

A male LONG-TAILED DUCK was seen at the foot of Balsam in Vancouver.

Thursday, July 1

A pair of LONG-TAILED DUCKS have been frequenting the shoreline waters near
the Kitsilano Pool for several days.
