Over the past two days my husband and I had the opportunity to film and
photograph a variety of birds as they fed their young. Among them was a beautiful
Bullock's Oriole. The nest was hanging from a tree, over the water's edge, and
we had a clear view. We noticed some fishing wire and weights above the nest.
Yesterday we could see a little beak reach from the nest when the parent
arrived with food, but today, the little guy was standing on top of the nest. It
was clear to us that at least one of his legs is wrapped in the fishing wire,
and he is tethered to the nest.

We posted photos at this URL: http://public.fotki.com/disjecta/oriole/

The nest is too high for us to reach. Does anyone know if there is someone we
can call who might come out to Pine Lake and cut this little guy loose?

Thanks.
