I spent Monday running around the Yakama Indian Reservation, mainly
from the Toppenish Wildlife Refuge out to Ft. Simcoe.

The biggest miss of the day was LEWIS' WOODPECKER of which there were
none!!! I don't know if there was some kind of acorn failure last
year that may have contributed to them moving on. This year the trees
seem to be loaded with acorns so maybe they'll be back.I also did not
see that many EUROPEAN STARLINGS (in fact not as many as usual), so
am of the impression they are not the cause of the LEWP loss.

I did talk to one of the grounds keeper and he had said seen a few
earlier in the morning so I am hopeful they will return in abundance,
maybe in the fall.
