Subject: Need help w/goldeneye identification

A goldeneye has been hanging out at the north end of Vashon Island this summer, way past the usual departure date of mid May. It appears to be a female but so far I have seen no yellow at all on the bill, which appears completely dark. Sibley shows the first year bird looking like what I and others have seen. However, this bird has been around since late May, so it can't be this year's young, it would have to have been born last summer. It would seem like it should show at least some yellow on the bill by now.

Any suggestions?

Other non-breeders we have this summer are Surf Scoters and a Common Loon. Western Sandpipers have been moving through for the last week.
