Thanks to all who replied with suggestions and offers of assistance today
regarding the baby Oriole tethered to his nest with fishing line. I called the
painter who recently painted our home to see if he had a ladder tall enough to
reach the nest. He did, and so we decided an immediate rescue attempt was in
order. I am happy to report that our efforts were successful!

I returned home ready to relax, secure in the knowledge that we had done a
good thing. But relaxing doesn't begin to describe my afternoon. Unrelated to
the Oriole, I returned home to find a most uncommon sight out on the lake. This,
