Hello All,

Once again I spent most of this past week out in the Northern Blues surveying for birds and other small verts.
Highlights this week were a single Common Poorwill setting on the ground and flying around the Wenatchee Guard Station at dusk Wed. evening. A single adult Mountain Quail off the 44 Rd. along the 140 rd.Wed. evening .. This species is very rare in Asotin County and once thought to be knocking on the doors of ex-ter-pation in this region! A Great Gray Owl was also observed near Godman Springs on Tuesday by Bill Dowdy a Forest Bio. Overall bird numbers are very good with many Townsends Warblers, Hermit Thrushes, Ruby-crowned Kinglets and Mountain Bluebirds seen and heard. It will be interesting to see what the start of fall migration brings us high in the Blues.
Later Mike
