Hi Tweeters,
We've been living on the corner of this woodlot for just over a decade,
began visiting it a few years before that, so nowadays its always
exciting when a new species shows up. Yesterday afternoon I was quite
surprised to see a Rock dove land on the edge of the carport. The
bird seemed quite tame and I immediately noticed the yellow plastic
band on the right leg. AU 2004 over STLY followed by 8902. No
federal band on the other leg. Just before 6 PM, the bird took off,
circled once, and flew off toward the south. I'd like to let
someone know where their bird was for a couple hours yesterday
afternoon. Anyone know how to get info on this ?
In recent years Ive developed a newfound appreciation for Rock Pigeons,
after observing a "wild" Purple Martin colony, wherein some of the
martins were using old refurbished pigeon nests. Now, anytime I see
pigeons on a building, bridge, etc., I always look and listen for
martins.
