Check out Laura's link to http://www.starlingtalk.com to see why you might
not want to feed the baby birds. Raising baby birds is not for everyone. You
are making a commitment for the rest of the bird's life, because they can
rarely be successfully released when they are handfed. Oh yes, you can let
them go, but they usually die. Is it such a good thing to raise them in
captivity, then release them with no survival skills? On top of that moral
dilemma is a legal one: do you have the necessary permits to possess a wild
bird? I don't know if Washington requires them for Starlings and House
Sparrows, but I think they are required in order to possess most wild bird
species.
