While doing point counts on a property on the Long
Beach pennisula yesterday, I can across an all adult
male flock of WESTERN TANAGERS, almost certainly south
bound migrants. There were at least six in the group,
probably more, feeding on elder and cascara berries.
They were making lots of contact notes including a
couple strange rattles I don't normally associate with
tanagers.
