Tweets - yesterday four of us regulars were joined by a family that I met
through my son's running club, so we had two girls out birding with us.
Great fun.

The day was otherwise fairly laid back, with LOTS of young birds about to
confuse us, and many birds seen poorly or only by a few people. Adding it
up, though, it made an OK day. The weather was certainly fine, sunny and
somewhat cool in the morning, warming to where it was rather hot.

Highlights:

Green Heron 1-2 adults, 1 immature
Wood Duck At least 4 females w/babies
Hooded Merganser 3 at the Rowing Club pond
Sharp-shinned Hawk 1 in deep cottonwood forest
R-breasted Sapsucker One adult, 1 gray-headed juvie
Red-eyed Vireo Singing male feeding BHCO baby
Violet-green Swallow Incredible numbers, LOTS of young
R-breasted Nuthatch One across from Dog Central! (odd)
Brown Creeper 2 near mansion
Yellow Warbler Heard a couple
Y-rumped Warbler Male Audubon's near mansion
B-throated Gray Wblr Immature seen at south end of dog area
Common Yellowthroat Adults and immatures
Wilson's Warbler One heard singing at E end of boardwalk
Bullock's Oriole Male Rowing Club

Some of the WOOD DUCK babies were pretty small, making me wonder if it was a
second clutch. Wood Ducks have been especially prolific this year.

For the day, 57 species (counting a Bald Eagle reported by the rowers). Not
bad for mid-July.
