It's been an Accipiter kinda year in Suburbia. I've
been birding all over the country and all over the
state, and the only places I can find Accipiters is in
town! I've seen both Coopers and Sharp-shinned in my
back yard or within a mile of my house (in Renton).
And I've seen Coopers on several occasions in Federal
Way.
And this morning during a walk I found a Cooper's Hawk
nest (with youngsters learning to fly) within a mile
of Weyerhaeuser Corporate headquarters, in a fairly
small group of trees, surrounded by suburbia,w
ell-used parks, and office buildings!
I guess Coop's and Sharpies are adapting fairly well
to us!
