I don't believe that is a really good idea. Given how thin and small the coolpix 4500 (and any of the digiscoping coolpix cameras (990, 995)), I doubt you'd want to be carrying the scope around with camera attached. Any sort of sudden jolt could be potentially disasterous. I had one such incident where I knocked my scope over...I even partially caught the scope as it fell and the camera didn't impact with much force at all, but it still split the joint of the 990 and rendered the camera useless. This was a jolt to a corner of the camera. A jolt to the back of the camera in the direction of the lens of the scope could prove as disasterous as it could crack the scope lens or (more likely) the camera lens, or crack the threading holding them together. I'd never want to leave the camera attached to the scope when I wasn't specifically digiscoping (which I don't do anymore and havent for a few years, but still the advice holds true). Besides with a decent adapter (which i'm guessing the one you mentioned in your previous post is) attaching the camera to the adapter is a very quick task. I had it down such that I could attach my camera to the scope in a second or two.

I'm looking for ideas about a carrying case for my scope with camera
attached and accessories.

The challenge is finding a case with dimensions that are about 30" x 10" x
7". I'd probably just get a foam insert and customize it for my stuff.
The cases I've found of that approximate length are either too wide or too
deep (like Pelican).

I want it to fit well in a backpack.

Thanks in advance.
