July 17th, sponsored in part by Wild Birds Unlimited, with stores in
Vancouver and North Vancouver.

Rare bird alert for a possible BLACK-BILLED MAGPIE.

Sightings for Saturday, July 17

In a late report for Friday was a BLACK-BILLED MAGPIE observed at the Mtn.
View Cemetery on East 33rd near Fraser. The bird was seen in the early
evening hours. Further confirmation of this bird is desired.

In a 1,000 plus flock of shorebirds off the foot of 104th were 2 early
juvenile WESTERN SANDPIPERS.

Three or four BLACK TURNSTONES were seen between berths 3 & 4 at the
Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal.

Thursday, July 15

Five BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS, 2 adults & 3 juveniles were seen at the
Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal's compensation lagoon.

Reported from the Reifel Refuge were 4 SANDHILL CRANES and the male RED
HEAD.

Tuesday, July 13

There was a late second hand report of a BROWN PELICAN at the White Rock
Pier from Sunday July 11th.

Near 112th in Delta were 14 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS.

Large numbers of up to 150 RHINOCEROS AUKLETS were seen a short distance off
shore on Lighthouse Park at Point Roberts. Also here were 2 WESTERN GULLS.

Monday, July 12

Reported from Reifel were the male REDHEAD, BARN & GREAT HORNED OWLS, 20
LESSER YELLOWLEGS and a WHIMBREL.
