It seems clear you haven't thoroughly visited the lower
Columbia in the last couple years.....

On a good days there's 500 just sitting on the south jetty.
The lower Columbia hosts the largest single roost of Brown
Pelicans north of San Francisco at Sand Island. Along with
the largest Caspian Tern colony in the world and the largest
Double-crested Cormorant colony north of Mexico.
