Hi Tweets,

This past weekend I did some birding on Marrowstone Island up in Jefferson County. On both Friday and Saturday nights (July 17 and 18), my wife and I heard a Barred Owl calling from Indian Island. Also, a Great Horned Owl was heard on Saturday night also from Indian Island. At Fort Flagler, there were at least 3 Purple Martins on the pilings of the old fishing pier. Also, 2 Black Oystercatchers were seen from the campground area across the waterway on the Indian Island side. Other shorebirds seen were 6 Black-bellied Plovers on Rat Island and 4 Least Sandpipers on the beach at the campground area.

Good birding,
