Steve and Tweeters,
Just passed through that area about 4 hours ago and of course did not check Discovery Bay. So it goes. Did have an interesting looking gull at Ediz Hook on Monday. Almost pure white, with only grey speckling on the scapulars and the belly. Had a black iris and a large bill that was black toward the tip with the rest being a very dull pink color. White primaries and tail. Head was a typical shape for a Glaucous, or Glaucous-winged Gull. Size consistent with those species.
I don't feel confortable with possible hybrids, so I'll leave this one to those who are better informed to make the final call. For those who might be interested the bird was seen at the end of the drive right by the entrance to the Coast Guard Station on the east side of the spit.

Greetings All

The WBRC just received a somewhat belated report of a basic-plumaged Spotted Redshank at Blyn, Discovery Bay ,Seen from restplace at road 101. The observers were two Swedes, and the date of observation was 10 July.

If anyone is out in that area, keep an eye out for that bird. There is some chance it might still be present.
