Tweets,
I recall seeing White Pelicans at the Yakima River
delta in Richland in the late 80's and early 90's
while fishing down there. I came wading around a
corner once and one was about 40 feet from one. I was
about knee deep in the water, and he was standing very
tall on the shore, and we were looking eye-to-eye!
Memorable! And I remember a flock of about 20 in
about 1991 just upstream from Bateman Island. I seem
to recall they were listed as an irregular visitor to
the Hanford Reach in the 1980's as well. I believe
they are fairly regular all through that area now?
Has anyone recording nesting activity on the islands
in the Columbia through the Hanford Reach?

Have any of you long-time state and county listers
been able to track their increase in range and numbers
between 1980 and the present? I know they are getting
more common. Heck, I saw a pair at Bowerman basin a
couple of years ago!
Good Birding!
Guy
