Hi, Tweets

I think, as far as record keeping goes, an individual must be passionate
about - or just extremely interested in - a species, and do all possible to
find out what's what, be it demographics, migration, behavior, etc. I
started out doing a migration survey and, as a sideline, in the beginning,
started receiving turkey vulture reports from all over our region.
Migrationwise, I have twelve years worth, but on the demographic side, I
have over six year's worth of data. We can find out a lot about a somewhat
common species from this.

This is the same with Bud Anderson's falcon research, Mike Patterson's
hummingbird surveys, Kevin Lee's purple martin project, and many others. It
just takes a curiosity and a willingness to persevere to learn more about
these wonderful feathered creatures.

It's time for someone to take up the white pelican's cause in our state!!
They are most impressive birds!

Cheers, Diann
