The Blackcapped Chickadees fledged much earlier than normal, but I missed
the
actual day. I heard them moving around the yard in the trees and bushes.
This evening the parents and three kids showed up at the bird bath.
The kids flew up to the birdbox, but did not try and get in, but it was
clear
this used to be home.
The last time they fledged this early we got a second brood. I'm hoping.
After many years of listening to you all having hummers in your yards
and being jealous because we're trying really hard to attract them,,
we finally got an Anna's that's definitely here for awhile. Probably
because
some of our hummer friendly shrubs are finally big enough to provide
mass quantities of food.
My wife saw one at work that was busy picking little bugs from the
cement wall. She was not aware they eat bugs too. Oh, yes,
I've seen hummers "gnat catching."
